Mailchimp email images need to work across dozens of email clients, each with different rendering quirks. Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail, and mobile clients all handle image scaling and blocking differently.
The key constraint is email width — most email templates max out at 600px wide. Images should be optimized for fast loading since many recipients have images blocked by default and need to choose to display them.
