Google Play App Icon dimensions at a glance
Google Play app icons are 512×512 PNGs that get dynamically masked into various shapes by Android's adaptive icon system. The icon appears in Play Store search, charts, and on the device home screen.
The icon is the most visible asset for any Android app. Google's adaptive masking can crop it into circles, squircles, or rounded rectangles depending on the device, so composition must survive all shapes.
Icons over 1MB are rejected. Designs with important elements near the edges get clipped by adaptive masking. Overly detailed icons become muddy at the small sizes used in app drawers and notifications.
